UCB Visa Signature Credit Card Review: Fees, Lounges, Rewards and Who Should Get It

Our verdict

The best-value premium card we have reviewed. UCB's unlimited lounge access at six domestic airports, unlimited Dhaka meet and greet and hotel BOGO buffets deliver most of what pricier cards offer for BDT 10,000 a year. Watch the issuing fee, the opt-out insurance charge and 25% interest, and do not count on Priority Pass for family trips abroad.

United Commercial Bank’s Visa Signature card sits in the premium tier but costs half as much a year as many rivals. It offers unlimited access to UCB’s own airport lounges in six cities, Priority Pass entries abroad, free meet and greet at Dhaka airport and buy-one-get-one buffets at top hotels. We went through UCB’s product page and its May 2026 schedule of charges line by line to see what you really pay and what you really get.

How we reviewed this card

This review is based on UCB’s Visa Signature product page and the bank’s conventional Schedule of Charges dated May 2026, both checked in October 2026. We did not hold the card or test it on real spending. Every cost example is our own calculation from the published figures. Where the product page and the fee schedule describe the same benefit differently, we say so.

The card at a glance

The UCB Visa Signature is a dual-currency, contactless EMV card, with one limit for spending in Bangladesh and a dollar limit for travel and international online payments.

  • Credit limit: BDT 6,00,000 to BDT 20,00,000 unsecured, or up to BDT 40,00,000 secured (against a deposit).
  • Fees: BDT 10,000 issuing fee and BDT 10,000 annual fee, plus VAT.
  • Interest: 2.08% a month (25% a year).
  • Interest-free period: up to 45 days.
  • Supplementary cards: first two free for life.
  • Headline perks: unlimited UCB Imperial airport lounges with 3 guests, 12 Priority Pass entries a year, unlimited meet and greet at Dhaka airport, BOGO buffets at 15 hotels, 0% EMI for up to 24 months, a welcome cashback and 5,000 signing bonus points.

Costs and fees in full

UCB’s schedule lists both an issuing fee of BDT 10,000 and an annual fee of BDT 10,000 for Signature and World cards. With 15% VAT, each comes to BDT 11,500 (our calculation). The product page does not mention the issuing fee at all, so ask the bank whether you pay both in the first year. If you do, your first-year cost is about BDT 23,000; from then on it is about BDT 11,500 a year, unless you waive it with points.

One more point: for the Signature card, the annual fee can only be waived with reward points, not by making a set number of transactions, and UCB Imperial customers do not get the balance-based fee waiver that applies to other UCB cards.

Things to watch:

  • Interest is high. Carrying BDT 1 lakh for a month costs about BDT 2,080 in interest (our calculation).
  • Insurance is opt-out, not opt-in. UCB enrols you in its insurance scheme when the card is issued and charges 0.35% of your statement balance. On a BDT 1 lakh balance, that is BDT 350 a month, or BDT 4,200 a year (our calculation). The cover is generous (see below), but if you do not want it, ask to opt out.
  • The 11% EMI is a flat rate. Over 12 months it works out to an effective rate of about 19.7% a year on a reducing balance (our calculation). Use the 0% EMI partners where you can.
  • Card cheques are expensive cash. You can draw up to 95% of your limit by card cheque, but each cheque costs 2% or BDT 500, plus interest.
  • Paying by bKash or Nagad costs BDT 30. Paying through upay, UCB’s own wallet, is free.

For a general explanation of how card interest and minimum payments add up, read our guide to the real cost of a credit card in Bangladesh.

Welcome offers

  • 10% cashback on superstores and dining in Bangladesh for three months after issuance, up to BDT 3,000 in total. You reach the cap after BDT 30,000 of eligible spending (our calculation).
  • 5,000 signing bonus points if you make your first transaction within 30 days of getting the card.

Reward points

UCB advertises “2X reward points for each BDT 50 / USD 1” on the Signature card. The page does not explain what the base rate is, so we read it as 2 points per BDT 50; confirm this with the bank. Points can be redeemed to waive the annual fee or to buy products at selected merchants.

The fee waiver needs 12,000 points and is available from the second year onwards. At 2 points per BDT 50, that means spending about BDT 3 lakh a year, or BDT 25,000 a month (our calculation). The 5,000 signing bonus gets you a good part of the way in year one.

Travel and lounge benefits

UCB Imperial airport lounges: the standout perk

Signature cardholders get unlimited free access to UCB Imperial airport lounges at Dhaka, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur and Jashore airports. The primary cardholder can bring 3 guests in both international and domestic lounges. Supplementary cardholders get free access for themselves only. Few cards in Bangladesh cover this many domestic airports, which makes this card unusually useful for people who fly within the country.

Priority Pass abroad: 12 entries, guests included

The product page promises free Priority Pass membership with “12 free entries per year” at 1,400+ lounges. The fee schedule adds an important detail: those 12 entries include guests. Every guest you bring counts as one entry, and you can bring up to 3 per visit. So travelling as a family of four uses four entries in one go, and the free allowance runs out after three trips. After that, each person pays USD 35 per visit. Supplementary cardholders get no free Priority Pass entries.

Meet and greet at Dhaka airport

Free meet and greet service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for up to 4 people each time, with no yearly limit. UCB’s page does not mention airport pick and drop.

Dining: BOGO buffets at 15 hotels

You can enjoy a companion buffet for the price of one at most major five-star hotels, including The Westin Dhaka, Sheraton Dhaka, Le Meridien Dhaka, InterContinental Dhaka, Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, Crowne Plaza Dhaka, Amari Dhaka, Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View, Dhaka Regency, Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan, The Peninsula Chittagong, Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre, Six Seasons Hotel and The Lakeshore Gulshan. UCB also offers year-round discounts on dining, travel, shopping and entertainment through its partner lists.

For a couple who eat at a hotel buffet once a month, at an assumed BDT 6,000 per person, the BOGO offer alone is worth about BDT 72,000 a year (our estimate). That easily covers the annual fee several times over, if you actually use it.

Instalments and cash

  • 0% EMI for up to 24 months at more than 450 partner merchants.
  • Flat 11% EMI on any shop or online purchase of BDT 10,000 or more.
  • Cash: up to 50% of the limit at any ATM, and up to 95% by card cheque or payment.
  • Minimum payment: BDT 500, USD 25 or 3% of the outstanding, whichever is higher.

Insurance

If you are enrolled in UCB’s insurance scheme, the card covers up to 400% of your outstanding balance in case of death and up to BDT 3,00,000 for 18 critical illnesses. The premium is 0.35% of your statement balance, and enrolment happens automatically when the card is issued. The page does not list the 18 illnesses or the maximum death benefit in taka, so ask for the full policy terms.

Security, payments and extras

  • Contactless EMV chip and 3D Secure with a one-time password for online payments.
  • Alerts for every approved and declined transaction.
  • Free add money to the upay wallet, and a free 5-page card cheque book.
  • UNET internet banking, and bill payment by cash, cheque, ATM, BEFTN, NPSB, upay, bKash or Nagad.
  • A dollar-only ERQ/RFCD version is available for exporters and foreign currency account holders, with a USD 100 issuing and annual fee.

Who it’s for, and who should skip it

Good fit: people who want premium lounge and dining perks without paying BDT 20,000 to 50,000 a year, especially those who fly domestically to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur or Jashore, enjoy hotel buffets, and pay their bill in full.

Poor fit: families who travel abroad often (the 12 Priority Pass entries include guests and run out fast), anyone who carries a balance at 25% interest, and people who earn less than the card’s BDT 6 lakh minimum limit suggests.

Ask UCB before applying: whether the BDT 10,000 issuing fee and the annual fee are both charged in year one, the base reward rate behind “2X”, the full insurance terms, and how to opt out of the insurance scheme if you do not want it.

How to apply

Use the “Apply now” button on UCB’s Visa Signature page or visit a UCB branch. Expect to provide your NID, photos, tax return proof and income documents such as salary certificates and bank statements or a trade licence. The bank sets your limit based on income and credit history; a secured limit of up to BDT 40 lakh is possible against a deposit.
