DBBL Nexus Mastercard World Credit Card Review: Fees, Lounge Access and Is It Worth It?
Our verdict
A strong premium travel card with lounge, airport and health perks few local cards match. Worth it if you fly abroad often, put at least BDT 25,000 a month on the card to earn the fee waiver, and pay in full every month. For light spenders or anyone who carries a balance, it is an expensive card to hold.
How it scores
What we like

- Up to 50 days interest-free on purchases

What could be better
- High annual fee of about BDT 23,000 including VAT

- DBBL's page contradicts itself on Priority Pass, pick and drop, meet and greet and reward limits

- Travel and hotel rewards need very high spending; unused points are lost when you close the card
- BDT 5,000 closing fee if you use premium perks and close before paying an annual fee
Dutch-Bangla Bank’s top-tier Mastercard promises Priority Pass lounges worldwide, airport pick-up and drop, a yearly health checkup and buy-one-get-one hotel dining. It also costs BDT 20,000 plus VAT a year. We went through every published benefit and charge to work out who actually comes out ahead.
How we reviewed this card
This review is based on Dutch-Bangla Bank’s (DBBL) published product page, fee schedule and reward terms for the Nexus Mastercard World credit card, as checked in October 2026. We did not hold the card or test it on real spending for this review. We calculated costs and reward values ourselves from the published figures. Where DBBL’s own page gives two different numbers for the same benefit, we say so.
The card at a glance
The Nexus Mastercard World is DBBL’s premium credit card for high-net-worth customers, sitting in the same fee band as its Signature and Diamond cards. It is a dual-currency card: one limit in taka for local spending and a US dollar portion for spending abroad and online, with the USD limit set according to Bangladesh Bank’s foreign exchange rules. DBBL says it is accepted at more than 40 million merchant points and over 2 million ATMs worldwide, and it arrives with a welcome kit.
- Credit limit: BDT 3,00,000 to BDT 25,00,000, or the USD equivalent.
- Annual fee: BDT 20,000 + VAT for the primary card; BDT 10,000 + VAT for each supplementary card.
- Interest: 1.5% per month on purchases you carry over; 18% a year on cash withdrawals from the day you withdraw.
- Interest-free period: up to 50 days on shop (POS) and online purchases, and on fund transfers to your DBBL account.
- Headline perks: Priority Pass lounges, Balaka VIP lounge at Dhaka airport, airport pick and drop, meet and greet, annual health checkup, unlimited BOGO hotel dining, 0% instalments at partner shops.
Costs and fees
The annual fee is the number that matters most. At BDT 20,000 plus 15% VAT, the primary card costs about BDT 23,000 a year, and a supplementary card about BDT 11,500 (our calculation). The fee is charged on each card anniversary. DBBL does not list a separate issuance fee.
| Charge | Amount (VAT extra where applicable) |
|---|---|
| Primary annual fee | BDT 20,000 |
| Supplementary annual fee | BDT 10,000 (50% of primary) |
| Interest on carried-over balance | 1.5% per month |
| Cash withdrawal interest | 18% a year from the withdrawal date |
| Cash advance fee (taka) | Free at DBBL ATMs; other banks BDT 100 or 3%, whichever is higher |
| Cash advance fee (USD) | 3% of the amount |
| Fund transfer to a DBBL account | 1% of the amount |
| Late payment | No fixed late fee, but an extra 2% a year on unpaid minimum dues |
| Minimum payment | 5% or BDT 500 (taka); 5% or USD 25 (dollar portion), whichever is higher |
| Replacement card or Priority Pass | BDT 500 |
| Damaged card replacement | Free |
| PIN replacement | BDT 200 |
| Sales slip retrieval | BDT 100 (local) / USD 5 |
| Statement retrieval | BDT 100 (local) / USD 10 |
| Certificate fee | BDT 150 / USD 5 |
| CIB fee | At actual cost |
| Balance transfer | Free |
| Closing fee | Nil if at least one annual fee paid; otherwise BDT 500, or BDT 5,000 if you used premium offers |
Two charges deserve attention. First, carrying a balance is expensive: 1.5% a month works out to 18% a year. Leaving BDT 50,000 unpaid costs about BDT 750 a month in interest, or BDT 9,000 over a year (our calculation). Second, cash is costly: you can withdraw up to 50% of your limit at ATMs at home and abroad, but a BDT 20,000 withdrawal from another bank’s ATM costs a BDT 600 fee plus about BDT 296 in interest if you take a month to repay (our calculation). For a fuller explanation of how card interest works, see our guide to the real cost of a credit card in Bangladesh.
Also note the closing fee rule: if you use the premium offers (BOGO dining, lounges, pick and drop, meet and greet or the health checkup) and then close the card before paying a single annual fee, DBBL charges BDT 5,000.
Rewards: can you earn the fee back?
You earn 2 reward points for every BDT 50 spent on purchases, including shop, online and QR payments. Cash advances, wallet or MFS top-ups, commercial transactions and reversals do not earn points. For international spending, DBBL’s page is inconsistent: one section says 3 points per USD 1, another says 2 points per USD 1. Confirm the rate with the bank.
| Points | Local spending needed | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 6,000 | BDT 1,50,000 | 50% off the primary annual fee, or a full supplementary fee waiver, for one year |
| 12,000 | BDT 3,00,000 | Full primary annual fee waiver for one year |
| 16,000 | BDT 4,00,000 | One buffet dinner coupon at a top hotel such as Le Meridien, Westin, InterContinental, Sheraton or Radisson |
| 25,000 | BDT 6,25,000 | One night’s stay for two in a double room at a partner hotel |
| 60,000 | BDT 15,00,000 | One economy return ticket from Dhaka to Bangkok, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Kunming or Guangzhou |
The most useful redemption is the annual fee waiver, and it is automatic. When you have enough points, DBBL redeems them against your annual fee by itself and sends you an SMS. If you would rather save points for something else, you must ask the bank in writing to stop the automatic waiver. DBBL also mentions cash rewards confirmed by SMS reply, but the page does not give a conversion rate.
Spending BDT 3,00,000 a year, about BDT 25,000 a month, earns enough points to cancel next year’s BDT 20,000 fee (our calculation). That is an effective return of around 6.7% on that spending, which is generous by Bangladeshi standards. Ask DBBL whether VAT on the fee is also waived.
The other rewards are much weaker. BDT 15 lakh of spending for one regional return ticket is a poor rate. Two more rules matter: you must clear any overdue amount before redeeming, and you must use your points before closing the card, because unused points are lost.
Travel and lounge benefits
This is where the card earns its price, if you travel. Be aware that DBBL’s page gives different limits for several of these benefits in different sections.
- Priority Pass: access to more than 1,300 airport lounges in over 600 cities and 148 countries, for primary and supplementary cardholders. One section of the page says access is unlimited with up to 3 guests per visit; another says a maximum of 8 free visits with 8 guests a year. Some sections also refer to the card as a Visa Signature card. Confirm your entitlement before you travel.
- Balaka VIP Lounge, Dhaka airport: 12 free visits with 12 guests in total for primary and supplementary cardholders, booked on +88028914248. Extra visits are billed, and lounge staff may swipe your card on entry.
- DBBL VIP banking lounges: unlimited free access to 10 VIP banking lounges and many VIP zones in DBBL branches, with refreshments and up to 5 guests a month.
- Airport pick and drop: for international travel at Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet airports, for the principal cardholder only. Each one-way trip counts as one use. The page says 6 uses a year in one section and 4 in another. Book at least 24 hours before the flight. Coverage is most of Dhaka city (four service areas), within 30 km in Chattogram and 7 km in Sylhet. Drivers wait up to 30 minutes for a city pick-up and 2 hours at the airport before extra charges apply.
- Meet and greet: help with check-in, immigration, luggage and customs on departure and arrival. One section says 12 free uses a year across Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram airports for primary and supplementary cardholders; another says unlimited use at Dhaka and Sylhet for the cardholder, one adult companion and two children under 12.
For someone who flies abroad a few times a year with family, Priority Pass access and airport transfers alone can be worth more than the annual fee. For someone who rarely flies, these perks are worth nothing.
Health, dining and instalment extras
- Annual health checkup once a year for primary and supplementary cardholders at Square, United or Evercare hospitals: fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, creatinine, CBC, ALT, AST, HbA1c, urine test and a doctor consultation, with breakfast at Evercare and Square. You book through your relationship manager, branch or the call centre.
- Hotel dining: unlimited buy one, get one, two or three free offers in a calendar year at partner five-star hotels, plus discounts at partner outlets for shopping, dining, travel and medical services.
- 0% InstaPay: 0% interest instalments of 3 to 36 months on purchases or bills over BDT 3,000, including medical bills, at 1,250+ partner outlets.
- Easy Pay, Easy Buy and Easy Loan: convert an outstanding balance (BDT 20,000+), a single purchase (BDT 10,000+, requested before the statement date) or unused limit (BDT 50,000+, paid into your DBBL savings account) into 3 to 36 monthly instalments. DBBL describes these as flat-rate plans but does not publish the rate, so ask for the effective rate before you agree.
- Supplementary cards get most of the same perks, including the health checkup, Priority Pass and BOGO offers, with a separate travel quota.
Security, online use and app
The card has an EMV chip, contactless payments, OTP verification for online shopping and an optional SecureID hardware token. Online shopping is switched on by default: you can use your full taka limit locally and your endorsed dollar limit internationally. The card can be added to DBBL’s NexusPay app for bill payments, top-ups, transfers, toll payments and QR payments at more than 21,000 merchant points. SMS transaction alerts are free, even when roaming, and you can pay your bill through NexusPay, branches, internet banking, ATMs and fast track booths.
Who can apply, and what you need
Everyone needs an NID copy, a tax return acknowledgement slip or tax certificate, and a colour photo. Then, depending on your income source:
- Salaried: salary certificate, pay slip or last increment letter, six months’ bank statement, and an office ID or business card.
- Business owners: valid trade licence, memorandum and articles of association, one year’s bank statement, and a business card.
- Landlords: proof of property ownership (registered deed, mutation copy, utility bill or holding tax receipt) and one year’s bank statement.
- Self-employed professionals: income declaration on letterhead, professional certificate or membership number, six months’ bank statement and a visiting card.
You can apply at any DBBL branch, through the application form on DBBL’s website, or by calling the 24-hour contact centre on 16216. With a minimum limit of BDT 3 lakh, this card is aimed at higher earners; the bank decides your limit based on income and credit history.
Who it’s for, and who should skip it
Good fit: people who fly abroad several times a year, spend at least BDT 25,000 a month on the card to earn the fee waiver, pay the full bill every month, and will actually use the health checkup and hotel offers.
Poor fit: anyone who rarely travels, spends lightly on cards, or tends to carry a balance. At 18% a year, interest will quickly wipe out the value of every perk. A cheaper card with a lower or waivable fee will serve you better; our comparison of Platinum, Signature and Infinite tiers explains how premium tiers stack up.
